World’s Strongest Man Was Pressing 180kg At 19

Throwback Thursday is something Tom Stoltman takes very seriously. In his latest throwback post, we see a 19-year-old Tom bench press a massive 180kg, years before he took the crown of World’s Strongest Man.

A baby-faced Tom doesn’t even seem to struggle getting the weight up, laughing as he gets into position for the challenge.Since this epic bench press, Tom has gone on to break huge records, including becoming the first Scottish World’s Strongest Man — as well as the first winner with autism — at the age of 27. Tom achieved glory in 2021, confirming his victory by winning his signature event, the atlas stones. Tom lifted five stones ranging from 140kg all the way up to 210kg in weight, blowing the competition away in the processTom’s brother, Luke, is also pretty legendary in case you didn’t know, winning Scotland's Strongest Man five times. Considering the brothers are strongman kings, naturally we wanted to know what would happen if we put them head-to-head in a series of challenges... here’s how it went.

Take home message

I’ll be keeping a close eye on the Stoltman bros’ Instagrams for more throwback posts — seeing how far they’ve come is incredible to watch. Both Tom and Luke have much more to come this year, and the team at Myprotein will be backing them all the way.
