Eddie Hall usually operates alone. Whether it’s in the pool, in the ring or dominating strongman, he does it solo. So what a surprise it was to see Eddie teaming up with his wife, Alexandra Hall, to take on the couples yoga challenge. She may have been his partner, but she wasn’t feeling confident beforehand …

“Couples doing yoga that are probably more equally matched than we are.”

We were thinking exactly the same thing.

Eddie started by quickly taking Alexandra through the poses they were going to attempt. To say they were diving in at the deep end would be an understatement.

Things got off to a nightmare. Logistically, there were so many challenges to overcome. Even once they’d managed to get into position, they'd have to stay in place.

Alexandra did her job, but Eddie couldn’t hold his end of the bargain. All he had to do was balance Alexandra on the base of his foot, a task you’d think would be light work for a strongman. They got there in the end (kind of) but only after three attempts.

Next up, Eddie lay on the floor again while Alexandra did all the heavy lifting (again). She went in with high hopes, but they were soon dashed. The second attempt went better, but it still wasn’t a success. On the third attempt, they accepted failure.

I've got no words for the next pose. None at all. I don’t know what Eddie was thinking.

We’ll leave it to Alexandra to describe how this pose went: “I can’t do it.”

The fifth pose turned into more of a slap war than a yoga pose. Eddie moved out of the way of Alexandra falling, forcing her to fall on the grass.

Finally, a successful pose. It wasn’t 100% successful but compared to the rest it was 10/10. If only Alexandra could have held her legs in position for a little bit longer, they would have had it spot on.

Success again, and on the first try. This was a real walk in the park, probably because Eddie had to do very little. Maybe they’re getting the hang of it.

After a tense logistical face-off, we saw yet another successful pose. Their form wasn’t perfect, but we’ll take anything at this point.

Take home message

For the sake of your marriage, I wouldn’t recommend trying this at home. It was absolutely not relaxing and Eddie described it as “hell on earth”. I’m not sure either of them knew what they were getting themselves into. But it was great to watch, so we can’t complain too much.
