What should I take intra-workout?
You should aim to take some form of fluid intra-workout which is rich in electrolytes and also easily digested and absorbed carbohydrate sources.
Which intra-workout is for me?
Powders and drinks may be most advisable as they help provide additional fluids along with the electrolytes and carbohydrates. Tablets may be a more practical choice for some however who find that taking in fluid during exercise affects their performance negatively.
Is it necessary to take an intra-workout?
It depends on the type of activity; those performing long duration, endurance exercise, such as running and cycling, may require intra-workout nutrition to sustain performance.
How many carbs should I have intra-workout?
The maximal absorption rate of carbohydrate is around 60g per hour so it depends on the length of your workout. If you use a multisource carbohydrate mix too this absorption rate can increase as different carbohydrates use different transport proteins during absorption.
When should I take an intra-workout?
If you have chosen an intra-workout product, it would be advised take sips throughout your workout. Not only will this help maintain hydration levels, but also provides your body with a constant stream of alternative energy which can minimise fatigue and optimise performance.
